Several big names will be missing from the upcoming WPL 2026 season, as Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Ellyse Perry, Delhi Capitals’ Annabel Sutherland, and UP Warriorz’s Tara Norris have withdrawn due to personal and international commitments.
Key Player Withdrawals and Replacements
Ellyse Perry, a star all-rounder for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has opted out of WPL 2026. Perry has been with RCB since the inaugural season and was retained for INR 2 crore ahead of this season. She is the second-highest run-scorer in WPL history and played a pivotal role in RCB’s 2024 title win. RCB has signed pace-bowling all-rounder Sayali Satghare as her replacement. Satghare, who previously played for Gujarat Giants and featured in four WPL matches over two seasons, joins for her base price of INR 30 lakh.
Annabel Sutherland will also miss the season. The Delhi Capitals (DC) star had been retained for INR 2.2 crore and played for DC over the last two seasons, having featured in the inaugural edition for Gujarat Giants. DC has brought in Australia legspinner Alana King as Sutherland’s replacement. King has limited WPL experience, having played just one match for UP Warriorz in 2025, but she comes into the tournament after taking 12 wickets in 13 games for Perth Scorchers in the recent WBBL season, where they finished as runners-up.
Meanwhile, Tara Norris of UP Warriorz will miss the season after being called up by the USA for the 2026 T20 World Cup Qualifiers. She had been bought at her base price of INR 10 lakh in the WPL auction. UP Warriorz have named Australian batting all-rounder Charli Knott as her replacement. Knott is uncapped internationally but brings the experience of six WBBL seasons and two Hundred campaigns.
These changes are expected to shake up team dynamics and offer fresh opportunities for the incoming players in WPL 2026.
