Kohli’s Masterclass Leads India to Massive Total

Virat Kohli delivered yet another batting masterclass as he smashed his 52nd One-Day International (ODI) century in the opening match of the series against South Africa in Ranchi on November 30 (Monday). The Indian batting icon was in complete control from the first ball, crafting a brilliant 135 that powered India to a formidable total of 349.

This dominant knock showcased all of Kohli’s trademark shots—precision drives, authoritative pulls, sharp cuts, and effortless wrist play. His ability to bat deep into the innings once again proved decisive, setting the tone for India’s commanding performance.

Jansen on Bowling to Kohli: “Annoying but Fun”

South African all-rounder Marco Jansen, who first encountered Kohli as a teenager while bowling to him in the nets, shared an honest and humorous take on what it’s like to bowl to the Indian superstar. Speaking to the Times of India, Jansen admitted that the experience is both thrilling and frustrating.

“It’s nice to watch him play. Growing up watching him on TV to actually bowling to him now… it’s annoying, but it’s fun at the same time,” Jansen said. He added that Kohli’s game hasn’t changed drastically—he’s simply batting “longer and longer,” making him even harder to dismiss.

Jansen explained his strategy against world-class batters like Kohli: aim to get them early. “I always try to get a batter in his first 10 or 15 balls. That’s when they’re still getting used to the wicket. Once they’re in and get on a roll, it’s very difficult to stop them,” he noted.

Despite picking up two wickets and contributing a quickfire 70 runs with the bat, Jansen’s efforts weren’t enough to guide the Proteas to victory in Ranchi. With India leading the series, South Africa will be eager to bounce back and level the contest in the second ODI in Raipur on December 3 (Wednesday).
