The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a 15-member India A squad for the upcoming two-match multi-day series against Australia A. Set to begin on September 16, 2025, in Lucknow, the series will mark Shreyas Iyer’s return to red-ball cricket, albeit at the India A level. The second match will follow on September 23, 2025, at the same venue.
Star-Studded India A Squad Named for Australia Series
Shreyas Iyer will captain a talented India A side featuring several players with senior Test experience. Dhruv Jurel has been named vice-captain and will also take on wicketkeeping duties. Supporting him in the wicketkeeping department is Narayan Jagadeesan, who is expected to serve as the backup keeper in what might be a preview of the future senior Test setup.
The squad includes consistent domestic performers like Ayush Badoni, who’s been in exceptional form, and Harsh Dubey, a standout from last year’s Ranji Trophy with his impressive bowling performances. Promising names like Sai Sudharsan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Devdutt Padikkal, and Abhimanyu Easwaran will further bolster the batting order.
On the bowling front, India A has a solid pace attack comprising Prasidh Krishna, Khaleel Ahmed, Gurnoor Brar, and Yash Thakur, with spin options provided by Tanush Kotian, Harsh Dubey, and Manav Suthar.
KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj to Join for 2nd Match
In a notable development, senior India players KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj will join the squad for the second multi-day match. Their inclusion is likely a move to provide them with some red-ball game time ahead of the upcoming home Test season. They will replace two players from the current squad after the conclusion of the first match.
