In an unfortunate turn of events for Indian cricket, fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the remainder of the India A vs Australia A match in Lucknow following a head injury. The incident occurred during Day 1 of the unofficial Test on September 24 (Wednesday), leaving a major dent in India’s pace attack.
Tough Outing with the Ball for Prasidh Krishna
The 29-year-old pacer from Karnataka had a challenging time with the ball, finishing with figures of 1/76 in his 17 overs. Despite his efforts, Prasidh struggled to find consistency against the Australia A batters, who played him with confidence. His solitary wicket came amid an expensive spell that didn’t reflect his usual standards.
However, his contribution wasn’t limited to the ball. When he came in to bat, India A were in deep trouble at 127/7. Prasidh, showing resilience with the bat, stitched a crucial 37-run partnership with Sai Sudharsan to stabilize the innings briefly.
Blow to the Head Ends Prasidh’s Participation
During his fighting knock of 16 runs off 25 balls — which included a powerful six off Australia A’s standout bowler Henry Thornton — Prasidh was struck on the helmet. Although he initially continued to bat for three more overs, he soon walked off the field showing signs of discomfort.
Following medical assessment, it was confirmed that Prasidh had suffered a concussion. As a result, he was ruled out of the match as a precautionary measure. Right-arm pacer Yash Thakur has been named as the concussion substitute for the rest of the match.
India A will be hoping for a quick recovery for Prasidh, who remains a key figure in the pace department, especially with important international fixtures on the horizon.
