India’s much-anticipated white-ball tour of Bangladesh, originally scheduled for August 2025, has officially been postponed. The tour was set to include three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20 Internationals (T20Is), beginning on August 17. However, the series will now take place in September 2026, with the exact dates to be confirmed at a later time.

Mutual Agreement Between BCCI and BCB

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that the decision to reschedule the tour was reached after discussions with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). According to the BCCI, the shift in schedule was made to accommodate international commitments and ensure a smoother calendar for both sides.

“The decision has been reached following discussions between the two Boards, taking into account the international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams,” the BCCI said in an official statement.

As of now, the BCB has not released a public statement regarding the rescheduling.

Political Tensions and Scheduling Challenges

Although the official reason centers on scheduling logistics, the delay also comes amid ongoing diplomatic tensions between India and Bangladesh. While cricket boards have not commented on the political situation, it’s believed to have played a role in postponing the tour.

With the Bangladesh tour now off the calendar for 2025, it remains to be seen whether India will fill that gap with another international series. The original schedule had the tour starting just weeks after India’s return from their England series.

For now, India’s next confirmed assignment is a home series against the West Indies, which will kick off with two Test matches starting October 2. Further updates on the Bangladesh tour and any possible additions to the 2025 calendar are expected in the coming months.
