The Indian women’s cricket team is set to welcome Sri Lanka for a five-match T20 International series beginning December 21. The series will kick off in Visakhapatnam, which will host the first two matches on December 21 and December 23. The remaining three games of the tour will be held in Thiruvananthapuram on December 26, 28, and 30.

Revised Schedule After Bangladesh Series Postponement

India had initially been scheduled to play Bangladesh, but the series was postponed, opening up a window that Sri Lanka will now fill. This updated arrangement ensures the Women in Blue get high-quality T20I game time at home—crucial preparation given that their recent focus had been on the ODI format during their successful World Cup campaign.

The series comes at an important time as both teams gear up for the T20 World Cup slated for next year in England. For India, this will mark their first international appearance since winning the ODI World Cup. Following the T20I series, the players will shift their focus to the Women’s Premier League (WPL) in January, before traveling to Australia for a tour in February and March.

This five-match contest not only promises exciting cricket action but also serves as vital match practice in the shortest format ahead of a packed international calendar.
