According to reports, Greater Manchester Police have taken Haider Ali into custody for questioning as part of an ongoing investigation. While no formal charges have been confirmed yet, the situation is serious enough that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken immediate action.
PCB Responds with Suspension and Legal Support
In an official statement, the PCB acknowledged the ongoing investigation and confirmed that Haider Ali has been placed under provisional suspension. The board emphasized its respect for the UK legal system and stated that it will allow the process to take its course before making any further decisions.
“The PCB has been made aware of a criminal investigation currently being conducted by the Greater Manchester Police involving cricketer Haider Ali,” said the board.
“The investigation pertains to an incident that reportedly occurred during the Pakistan Shaheens’ recent tour of England. The PCB fully respects the legal procedures and processes of the United Kingdom and acknowledges the importance of allowing the investigation to run its due course.”
The PCB also expressed its commitment to supporting the 24-year-old cricketer with appropriate legal assistance during the investigation. The board made it clear that once the legal proceedings are completed and all facts are known, they reserve the right to take further disciplinary action based on their Code of Conduct.
