IPL 2025, MI vs GT: Kagiso Rabada is eligible for selection for Gujarat Titans following the successful completion of his substance abuse rehabilitation program

South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada is now available for the Gujarat Titans for the remainder of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 after successfully completing his substance abuse treatment program. Last week, the Proteas pacer disclosed that he tested positive for a recreational drug, which led him to return to South Africa midway through the season, resulting in a provisional suspension.
Rabada recently disclosed that he is serving a provisional ban for testing positive for recreational drugs. As a result, he returned home from IPL 2025, citing personal reasons. The South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) confirmed that Rabada was tested during the SA20 in January, and the positive result was communicated to him on April 1.
Rabada reaction for His Provisional Suspension:
“I am deeply sorry to all those that I have let down. I will never take the privilege of playing cricket for granted. This privilege is much larger than me. It goes beyond my personal aspirations,” Rabada said in an official statement.
Ahead of the IPL 2025 encounter against Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans’ Director of Cricket, Vikram Solanki, confirmed that Kagiso Rabada is in contention for selection. “He is available for tomorrow’s match,” Solanki said.
The Gujarat franchise secured Rabada’s services for INR 10.75 crore during the mega auction held in Saudi Arabia in November 2024. Kagiso Rabada has played two matches for the Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025, picking up two wickets.
