The countdown has begun for the ACC Men’s T20I Asia Cup 2025, as the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) officially announced the tournament schedule. Set to take place from September 8 to September 28, the highly anticipated cricket event will feature eight of Asia’s top teams, all competing for the coveted continental title.
India vs Pakistan Set for September 14 in Group A
In a surprising but exciting turn of events, arch-rivals India and Pakistan are scheduled to face off on Sunday, September 14. This comes despite earlier tensions between the two nations, which had raised doubts about whether they would play each other at all.
Both teams are placed in Group A, alongside hosts United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman. Group B includes Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong.
Although the venue details have not been finalized, the matches are expected to take place across Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, as indicated by ACC Chair Mohsin Naqvi in a prior announcement.
Tournament Format and Key Dates
The Asia Cup 2025 will follow the T20 format, aligning with preparations for the T20 World Cup 2026, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The tournament starts with a group stage, followed by the Super Fours, set to begin on September 20.
Depending on results, India and Pakistan could meet again in the Super Fours, and potentially clash for a third time in the final, which is scheduled for September 28.
The competition promises edge-of-the-seat action as Asia’s cricketing giants go head-to-head, not just for bragging rights but for momentum heading into next year’s World Cup.
🏏 The battle for Asian supremacy returns this September! Stay tuned for thrilling matchups and unforgettable moments.
