Australia’s power-hitter Tim David made a sensational comeback from injury, smashing a record-breaking century in the third T20 International against the West Indies at Basseterre on July 25 (Friday). His 37-ball ton is now the fastest T20I century by an Australian, and the third-fastest among full-member nations.

David Sets New Benchmark for Australia in T20Is

Returning to international cricket with a bang, Tim David reached his fifty in just 16 balls, setting a new record for the fastest T20I half-century by an Australian. He didn’t stop there—blazing his way to a century off just 37 balls, he now stands alongside global greats in the list of fastest T20I centuries.

Among full-member nations, only David Miller and Rohit Sharma have scored T20I hundreds faster (35 balls each in 2017). David is tied with Abhishek Sharma, who also reached the mark in 37 balls earlier in 2025.

Shai Hope’s Maiden Century a Silver Lining for West Indies

Amid the Aussie dominance, Shai Hope gave West Indies fans something to cheer about. The elegant right-hander notched his maiden T20I century, remaining unbeaten on 102. With this ton, Hope joins Chris Gayle as the only West Indians to have scored centuries in all three international formats.

The fourth T20I will also be held in Basseterre on July 26 (Saturday), where the hosts will look to bounce back and keep the series from becoming a whitewash.
