Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has named a 16-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, set to begin on June 17 in Galle. The series marks a significant return for several key players and introduces fresh faces to the longest format.

Litton Das, Ebadot Hossain Back in the Fold

Litton Kumer Das, who was rested during the Zimbabwe series, returns to the national setup. His presence will bolster the middle-order alongside Mushfiqur Rahim and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto.

Fast bowler Ebadot Hossain also makes a highly anticipated return after a long injury layoff following ACL surgery in 2023. His comeback adds experience and pace to Bangladesh’s bowling attack.

Left-arm spinner Hasan Murad is another notable inclusion. Although yet to make his Test debut, Murad has already shown promise in the domestic circuit with 145 wickets in just 33 first-class matches at an average of 21.66. He has previously featured in two T20 Internationals for Bangladesh.

Mahmudul Joy, Tanzim Sakib Miss Out; Taskin Ahmed Still Injured

Among those omitted from the squad are top-order batter Mahmudul Hasan Joy, pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam. Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed was not considered due to an ongoing recovery from an ankle injury.

Najmul Hossain Shanto, who has been leading the side since the departure of Shakib Al Hasan from the Test leadership role, will continue as captain for another year. All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been named vice-captain.

The squad also includes young pacers Nahid Rana and Hasan Mahmud, with Khaled Ahmed bringing additional experience in the pace department.
