As England gear up to face India in the upcoming Test series, excitement is building around whether Ben Stokes and his men will bring back their aggressive, fast-paced brand of cricket—famously dubbed ‘Bazball’. While this approach dazzled fans during their recent campaigns, including flashes of brilliance in the Hyderabad Test during their 2024 India tour, it wasn’t always consistent. Now, with England playing at home, supporters expect Bazball to return in full force.
However, Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah remains calm about the prospect. Speaking on Michael Clarke’s podcast, Bumrah shared his candid thoughts on England’s attacking style of play.
Jasprit Bumrah Finds Bazball “Interesting,” But Admits He Doesn’t Fully Understand It
Bumrah, known for his sharp analytical mind and deadly precision with the ball, admitted that England’s new cricketing philosophy intrigues him—even if he doesn’t quite understand it.
“They’re playing an interesting style of cricket, which is interesting because I don’t really understand it too much,” he said. “As a bowling unit, we always feel confident that when batters are ultra-aggressive, on a given day, anybody could run through and get wickets.”
The fast bowler, who has consistently delivered in all conditions, also spoke about the unique challenges of bowling in English conditions.
“Playing in England is always a different challenge. I always love bowling with the Duke’s ball,” Bumrah explained. “But I don’t know how much the Duke’s ball is doing right now because there are always constant changes to the ball. The weather, the swinging conditions… and then when the ball becomes soft, there’s always a challenge. So I always look forward to playing in England.”
“Family Comes First”: Bumrah on Balancing Life Beyond Cricket
Beyond the boundary ropes, Bumrah also opened up about the importance of family in his life, highlighting how personal values shape his professional journey.
“For me, my family is more important than my cricket career,” Bumrah said honestly. “Because, you know, family is constant. There are two things I take seriously—one is my family, and the other is my sport. But family comes first.”
He added, “I won’t be a cricketer forever, and for my family, I’m not just a cricketer, I’m a human being. That’s why I give more priority to my family.”
As India prepares for another challenging tour of England, Bumrah’s steady mindset and grounded perspective continue to be vital assets—not only to the team but to fans who see him as more than just a fast bowler.
