Harsh Dubey Replaces Injured Smaran Ravichandran in Sunrisers Hyderabad Squad for IPL 2025
Sunrisers Hyderabad have signed young spinner Harsh Dubey as a replacement for Smaran Ravichandran, who has been ruled out of the rest of IPL 2025 due to injury. The 22-year-old Smaran had joined SRH for ₹30 lakh and was brought in as a replacement for Adam Zampa. Dubey has been picked for the same price.
Smaran had impressed earlier this year by scoring a brilliant century for Karnataka in the Vijay Hazare Trophy final against Vidarbha, which helped him earn an IPL call-up. Unfortunately, his season has now ended due to injury.
Sunrisers Hyderabad are currently struggling in the tournament, sitting at ninth place on the points table with just six points from 10 matches. Their next match is a must-win clash against Delhi Capitals on Monday evening. A loss in that game would knock them out of the tournament.
Who is Harsh Dubey?
Harsh Dubey is a 22-year-old all-rounder from Vidarbha who bowls left-arm spin. He made headlines in the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy by taking 69 wickets—the most ever in a single season—breaking the previous record of 68 wickets set by Ashutosh Aman in 2018–19. He also picked up seven five-wicket hauls during Vidarbha’s run to the title.
While Harsh has been outstanding in red-ball cricket, his white-ball performances have been decent but not spectacular. In List A cricket, he has taken 21 wickets from 20 matches, and in T20s, he has picked up nine wickets in 16 games with a decent economy rate of 6.78.
His last T20 match was in December 2024 against Mumbai, where he batted at No. 8 and took the important wicket of Suryakumar Yadav.
